We are proud to say that our group is the oldest in York, possibly the oldest in Yorkshire, having started in Holgate in 1909. It moved to Poppleton in 1964.

Here at 1st York (Poppleton) Scout Group we offer young people aged 6 to 14 the opportunity to have adventure, challenge, fun, friendship and contribute to the community of Poppleton.

We are over subscribed across all three sections of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, and hold weekly meetings in the village, and we run a Young Leaders scheme for 14 to 18 year olds. Our current Group Scout Leader is Guy Bolton, and uniformed volunteers staff each section, alongside parent helpers.  An Executive Committee oversees the overall running of the group.

We are part of the York Ebor District in York, and along with 12 other districts form North Yorkshire Scout County

All sections now use OSM fo record keeping and planning. Parents can access the relevant programmes by following the link emailed to them by a leader. All payments are also managed through OSM.
